Brief-
The Christmas elf has stolen all of our baubles for the school Christmas tree in the hall.
Year 2 need to make new baubles. The baubles must be bright and Christmas themed. They must also not break easily if children knock them off the branches.

Step 1-
We looked at existing products. We evaluated lots of baubles, all different colours, shapes, sizes and materials.
We decided which we liked the best and why.

Step 2-
We designed our own baubles, made out of felt so they would not break easily.
we looked at what resources we had to add detail to our baubles and thought about how we could attach them.

Step 3-
We made our baubles. We added sequins, buttons, pom poms, ribbon and some of use glued on googly eyes. After lots of practise we were able to sew the edges of our baubles together and sew some of our decorations on.

Step 4-
We evaluated our baubles against our design brief and own initial designs. We decided what went well, what could be improved and if there was anything we would do different next time.

Welcome to Year 2B

Welcome to year 2B class page. Here you will find information about what we are learning all about in class and some key information about PE and other activities.

Reading

At St. Joseph's we share a huge love for reading. Reading is a vital life skill that helps children in every aspect of their learning. We read with the children 1:1 at least three times a week and ask you as parents to do the same. Please sign their reading record book each time you read so that books can be changed.
As class teacher I read to the children every day, this could be a focus book or one from our class reading area.
The children also have many chances within the week to enjoy our reading area, as they sit and read independently or with friends.

P.E- Tuesday Morning. Full kits to be brought to school and will be sent home at half terms.

There are many ways you can help enhance your child's learning at home. We will be giving homework to the children each Friday, the homework will always be based upon learning being complete in class. So you will gain an understanding of what learning is taking place each week. Please sit with and support your child with their homework.
There are also some great websites that have lots of different interactive games or videos for our child to watch.

So, let's work together to ensure the children thrive, learn and develop new skills, develop confidence and most importantly have fun, all within a space they feel calm, safe and supported.

Please feel free to talk to me at the end of the school day and if needed we can arrange a time to talk in private. ax
